About SIBIAM

Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Malaysia (SIBIAM) was set up in July 2007 as a non-profit charity organization primarily made up of SBH persons, parents (families) and volunteers to take care of SBH person’s interests and needs.

SIBIAM’s objectives are to increase awareness about Spina Bifida and its related complications affecting lives of persons with Spina Bifida and to provide assistance in areas of healthcare, medical & rehabilitation devices, educate and support for equal access to education and vocation and finally to encourage social integration and the will to stay strong and live a healthy, active and independent life as members of the community through planned projects , national and international events, self-help programmes and advocacy.

Our motto is “ALWAYS BY YOUR SIDE”. The Willing Spirit represents the passion of the association to motivate and encourage spina bifida persons to be the best version of themselves.

Mission: To assist SBH community through direct support to members, education and awareness as well as advocacy.

Our highest value is promotion and protection of the human rights of people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) was founded by people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SBH) and their families in 1979. Over the years, it has grown from a voluntary association into a professional disabled people’s organisation (DPO) with global coverage, democratic structure and transparent and accountable processes.
